I reckon you can lean on the fact that you have al those students you're supervising and publish through them. It is a perfectly legit and well-exercised University tradition! Besides which, even if you don't get continuation in year 3, you will have another year to up your game, and I know for a fact you can turn out a great deal of research in a year when you put your mind to it.
